Galley Workshop Now Open - 8th October 2008

As demand has continued to increase the requirement for us to provide an individual facility for Galleys was becoming evident. The new workshop compliments our existing capabilities but as an independent cost centre will provide an additional focus on our customer’s requirements. As well as supplying support on a range on individual pieces of Galley equipment we are looking to provide certification for complete Galleys.

The newly refurbished workshop contains several customised work benches and supports Ovens, coffee and water boilers.

This expansion is part of our ongoing development of the Oakenhurst Group, we expect the newly formed department to treble our current presence in this field.

New Ukraine Facility Opens - 19th July 2007

Oakenhurst today unveiled its new facility located in Ukraine, Boryspil International Airport. The facility sits directly on the airfield and consists of 5000 square foot premises. The purpose built workshop will specialise in component repair of Escape Slides, Galley Equipment, Avionics and Electrical Accessories and is the first independent EASA Approved facility in Ukraine to offer MRO services.

An increasing demand in the area sparked interest and was soon identified as an expanding market. Currently the facility predominantly supports Ukraine but it is Oakenhurst’s intention to market the facility worldwide where its customers will benefit from Oakenhurst UK’s winning formula of competitive pricing and excellent customer support.

Oakenhurst transferred its established procedures and certifications from its UK operation to the new facility which is configured to offer in-house capability to modify, repair, test, and inspect components.

With all the mergers and acquisitions in the industry, company names that existed two years ago are no longer around today. Still, Oakenhurst remains a true independent Repair Station funded by private investment making sure that its customers get highest quality repairs on time and within budget."

The first installation of the Smarthandle - 16th November 2006

Carried out successfully on an Icelandair Boeing 757-200. After presenting the Smarthandle to Icelandair they saw it's operational value, and agreed to provide the test bed aircraft for the initial installation. After this successful installation Icelandair have now ordered the Smarthandle for the remainder of their fleet including their Boeing 757-300, Boeing 757 freight and Boeing 767-300.

Airbus is helping to design and modify the Smarthandle to enable it to become an integrated part of the Airbus aircraft. Once the final design specification has been agreed, Airbus will carry out an in-service evaluation of the Smarthandle prior to providing it as a retro fit to existing Airbus aircraft and directly onto airframes on the production line."

Oakenhurst Aircraft Services Ltd (OAS) a worldwide aircraft component Material Repair Organisation, has earned the right to be known as an "ISO 9001 Company." This exacting ISO standard was achieved as the result of the company's on-going commitment to Total Quality Management. Peter Caudell, company Chairman, explained how the approval benefits their customers: "Being an ISO 9001 company encompasses all aspects of our operation - administration, sales, engineering, production. Many companies talk about Total Quality Management, but becoming a certified BS EN ISO 9001:2000 company means that we're actually meeting the challenge. By going through the same ISO approval process that many of our customers experience, we can thoroughly understand their requirements and concerns. We're all working with the same philosophy." Peter Hutchin, Quality Manager at OAS, notes that BS EN ISO 9001:2000 compliance is an on-going process.
